Study Abroad Overview
Study-abroad, or off-campus study, can be a life-changing experience! These programs are designed to develop students' cultural competency as well as improve linguistic skills. Through cultural understanding and language proficiency students prepare themselves for better functioning in today’s increasingly globalized and competitive society. In addition, students return home having formed lifelong friendships abroad and gained in independence and self-confidence crucial for their future careers in any chosen field.
Partnerships and affiliations between Kentucky Wesleyan College and select institutions around the world include Harlaxton College in Grantham, England, University of Nova Gorica, Slovenia, Hong Kong Baptist University, and Palacky University, Czech Republic. Students can also participate in well known state and national programs such as the Kentucky Institute for International Studies (KIIS) and the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS). Courses taken from these institutions will transfer successfully to KWC. In addition, many foreign institutions offer courses taught in English.
Study abroad can be affordable! Some partner/affiliate institutions provide remission or other tuition reduction options, and additional financial aid is available through loans, grants and scholarships. Kentucky Wesleyan College has a special grant program - the Mazzier-Heuser International Studies Fund - that can lower student costs for study abroad. And, the benefits and rewards gained during study abroad/off-campus study far outweigh any costs.
Kentucky Wesleyan College is committed to helping students to study abroad, whether for a single semester, a summer or a full year. Programs exist that are suited to every discipline offered on campus, and for students at various points in their academic career. Students have recently traveled and studied in Prague, Spain and England.
