ALUMNI ASSOCIATION BOARD MEMBERSHIP
Alumni Board Nomination Form
Why Be Involved?
Serving as a member of the Kentucky Wesleyan College Alumni Association Board
provides you an opportunity to give back to the college, faculty, staff, and
alumni in a very meaningful way.
If you have a sense of pride in the value of the education you received at
KWC, you are a perfect candidate for the Board. You can assure that the educational
experience you so highly regard, continues to be offered generation after generation.
Your help provides a legacy of alumni who support KWC students.
Your support represents an investment in the value of your degree, by helping
KWC maintain its excellence and in the future, by helping to educate tomorrow's
leaders.
Service on the Alumni Board is voluntary; the college proudly acknowledges
such service in it's alumni magazine, KWToday.
Position Description and Responsibilities for Board
Members
A member of the Alumni Board of Directors is appointed to hold the position
based on demonstrated involvement, support, and commitment to Kentucky Wesleyan
College and the Alumni Association. In accepting the three-year appointment,
an individual agrees to fulfill the requirements and meet the responsibilities
associated with board membership. These include, but are not limited to:
- Attending and participating in all scheduled board meetings. These are held
three times each year (October, February and June) and will usually require
a full day for each meeting. A board member who misses two successive regular
meetings is deemed to have resigned from the board.
- Serving actively on alumni board and alumni association committees. Much
of the business of the board can be conducted in committees. Occasionally
these committee meetings are held in conjunction with the board meeting but
many are also held at other times throughout the year.
- Becoming a representative and spokesperson in your community for Kentucky
Wesleyan College and the Alumni Association. This task may involve talking
with prospective students, meeting with or calling other alumni, enlisting
the interest of current students and their parents in alumni activities, and
attending institutional and alumni activities and programs, both locally and
on campus wherever possible.
- Assisting the college and Alumni Association in identifying, cultivating,
and involving alumni in areas such as student recruitment, job placement,
chapter leadership, financial support, and more.
- Being familiar with the programs and activities sponsored, organized, and
coordinated by the Office of Alumni Relations.
- Serving in an advisory and advocacy capacity on behalf of the Office of
Alumni Relations and providing active support of the Alumni Association through
resolutions and board advocacy.
- Accepting leadership and participatory roles in college and association
programs and activities as needed and working closely with the Office of Alumni
Relations on behalf of association and college objectives, as stated in the
Alumni Association Mission Statement and KWC's Mission Statement.
- Attending and participating in the KWC Alumni Weekend event during each
term on the board. Representing their class in organizational planning for
Alumni Weekend reunion activities.
- Contributing financially to the college. All board members are expected
to be current donors and support the college's fundraising efforts.
- Assisting in the nomination and selection of an alum for the "Outstanding
Alumni Award" to be presented during the Commencement ceremony, as well
as other awards.
