The Alma Randolph Charitable Foundation has scheduled its second annual Hats Off For Our Children Ladies' Luncheon for 11:30 a.m. March 22 at Kentucky Wesleyan College.
Sandy Rose, vice president of the foundation, said about 185 women attended last year's event to raise money to buy back-to-school clothes for children in need.
"We'll be in Hocker Hall this year," she said. "It's bigger than the room we had last year."
Women don't have to wear hats, Rose said.
But she said last year several women competed for prettiest and funniest hats.
Kentucky Wesleyan soccer players will escort women to their tables, Rose said.
The Owensboro Symphony Jazz Band will perform along with the Brescia University Male Quartet, the Kentucky Wesleyan Singers and Randolph, she said.
A silent auction is also scheduled.
Randolph, a local contemporary Christian singer, started the foundation because she grew up poor in Ohio County and was never able to afford new school clothes as a child.
Last year, the foundation celebrated its 20th anniversary by raising $61,290 to buy clothes for 780 children.
That brought the total served by the foundation through the years to nearly 14,000.
Tickets for the luncheon are $25.
They can be ordered by calling 270-852-6559 or by sending a check to the Alma Randolph Charitable Foundation, 2400 Friendship Drive, Suite B, Owensboro, KY 42303.
