Fitness trails first arrived in the United States in the early 1970s. Since then, they have only grown in popularity. Today, there are thousands of fitness trails throughout the nation and around the world.
A fitness trail, or “fit trail,” is a walking or jogging path with various exercise stations placed along the trail. A participant proceeds from one exercise station to the next along the path. When used properly, a fitness trail is an excellent workout for the entire body.
According to www.fittrail.com, fitness trails have been called “an ideal resource for communities and agencies dedicated to improving the health and fitness of Americans” by the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.
