KWC Signature Learning Experiences Are a Great Way to Gain Practical Experience in Your Field of Interest
Students in all of the Behavioral Sciences benefit from practicum and internship experiences.
We have established relationships with a large number of agencies in Owensboro and surrounding communities so that our students can gain practical experience and better prepare for life after KWC.
Students are encouraged to complete one or more practicums during their junior or senior year. For more than a few of our students, these practicum experiences have led to full-time employment upon graduation.
Student practicums are uniquely designed to allow our students to work in agencies near their hometowns during the summer months.
They often work with state police, local police departments, jails, prisons and pre-trail release programs.
- Undergraduate research experiences
- Research project in senior capstone course

- Practicums at organizations such as River Valley Behavioral Health, OASIS, New Beginnings, Boulware Center and Mary Kendall Home
Human Services Administration and Sociology
Human Services Administration majors are required to complete two practicums. They are optional experiences in sociology.
Students also have the opportunity to get involved in a rich variety of extracurricular activities at Kentucky Wesleyan, including the Sociology/HSA Club, which has offered field trips, guest speakers, help with job placement, films and other similar activities in recent years.
