We’re excited that you’re considering studying Religion at Kentucky Wesleyan College. A lot of big things are happening here and we look forward to your joining us soon!
Philosophy and religion are the heart and soul of a liberal arts education. If the natural sciences enable us to understand our world, philosophy and religion enable us to understand ourselves.
In philosophy, you ask questions like, "What is morality? What is justice? How do I know what I think I know?" In religion, you'll ask questions like, "How does a religion get started? Why are there so many religions? Has the concept of God changed over the centuries? What do the texts before me mean?"
The disciplines developed through the academic study of religion prepare you for a wide range of career choices. Many graduates pursue vocational ministry, which naturally begins with religious study.
Other careers are also open to those who major in religion, since the ability to perform insightful and discerning analysis is precisely the kind of critical thinking skill desired by the legal community, corporations, marketing firms and academic institutions. The academic study of religion also lays a firm foundation for graduate studies in almost any field of the humanities.
Check the links at left for more information on the majors and minors in Religion and Philosophy, and feel free to contact us with any questions. We look forward to seeing you on campus!
