Mike Horn ‘75
Mike Horn is a 1975 alumnus of Kentucky Wesleyan College. One of seven children, Michael E. Horn is a Philpot, KY native. Mr. Horn learned early on the value of hard work and the importance of humility. He developed skills and knowledge over his years in construction and maintenance services.
In 1978, he established National Steel Erection, Inc., which later led to Titan Contracting and Leasing Co, Inc to provide more precise and cost effective solutions. Titan is a leading specialty mechanical contractor serving the Power, Petrochemical, Refining and General Process Industrial Markets – building power plants, refineries, “scrubbers” for aged coal power plants among many other heavy industrial projects. The company retains between 800 and 2,000 employees, depending on project requirements, and has offices throughout the country and capabilities to perform work in all 50 states.
He also owns and leads Titan Fabrication, Inco Services, Milco Constructors, M Industrial Mechanical, Midwest Consulting, which aids customers in occupational safety and training – all, included Titan Contracting, under the umbrella of Horn Industrial Services.
While a successful industrialist, he, too, is a philanthropist. In 2007, he created the Michael E. Horn Family Foundation which supports numerous causes and project in Owensboro and Daviess County, KY – including Kentucky Wesleyan College. His support made possible the renovation of the former Playhouse into the Panther Baseball Hitting Facility, including numerous other projects with the Baseball program. The Foundation awarded over $50,000 to Daviess County students seeking higher education, in addition to $280,000 awarded for a variety of projects in the area. In 2012, he was the recipient of a legum doctor honoris causa (honorary doctor of laws) degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College.
