Dr. Fagan graduated from Marquette University in 1969 with a psychology major. He then counseled adolescents at the Cleveland Job Corps while earning his master’s degree in educational psychology at John Carroll University. In 1974 he entered the University of Florida where he obtained his PhD in educational psychology in 1977.

                Fagan accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Psychology at Kentucky Wesleyan in 1977. During the 1980’s he conducted research in adult development which was published in over a dozen journal articles. Fagan was the founding editor of The International Journal of Mentoring.

                During the 1990’s Fagan was appointed chair of his department and Associate Dean. In the latter position he, with the help of several faculty members (especially Jim Welch), developed the KWC Leadership Program.

                Fagan served as Academic Dean/Vice President of Academic Affairs from 1996 to 2008. Dean Fagan lead KWC through two successful accreditation reviews and started majors in Computer Information Systems, Sports and Fitness Management, and Journalism.

                He served as interim president for a few months in 2008 and then returned to the classroom in 2009, teaching until he retired in 2013.

                Mike Fagan is the proud father of two daughters and is blessed with five grandchildren. In 1997 he married Beverly, a 1969 KWC graduate.
