Research Interests:
The focus of Dr. Mackey’s research is in the area of animal behavior and cognition. She is primarily interested in understanding factors that contribute to zoo animal welfare, as well as the interplay between welfare and cognitive function. She is also interested in the role of personality and animal welfare. Dr. Mackey currently conducts research each summer at the San Diego Zoo.
