Chapters strive to achieve the highest potential from each member and to reach common goals for the organization and the community. Alpha Omicron Pi chapter, also known as AOII, has recently been re-chartered as of spring 2013. The local chapter, Theta Omega, went national in 2012 as the Beta Chi Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi.
“The Beta Chi chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi’s greatest strength is our members… unique as individuals, yet bound together by the common bond of friendship. Bound by these ties of friendship, AOII encourages each member to recognize what is unique in each of us, to develop our individual talents and to be proud of our differences. As represented by one of our symbols, the sheaf of wheat, we are made stronger by coming together as one. Our sisters love to support our local philanthropy, The Aubrey Song Foundation which is an eating disorder awareness group, and our international philanthropy, The Arthritis Foundation.”
The Kappa Delta chapter, also known as the KD’s, began at Wesleyan in 1920 as the Chi Upsilon Chi Sorority. The local went national in 1958 as the Gamma Xi Chapter of Kappa Delta.
women a strong support system and encouragement to excel. Chapter members gain the confidence to achieve their dreams and are inspired to action on campus and in the community. We, along with all other Kappa Delta’s across the nation, strive to seek the honorable, beautiful, and highest things in all walks of life.
The ladies of Gamma Xi participate in a variety of other campus organizations. We have active members involved in Student Government Association, Student Activities Programming Board, Campus Ministries, Ambassadors, Choir, Band, Women’s Basketball, Soccer, Cross Country, Track and Field, Cheerleading–and the list goes on and on! Several members hold leadership positions both in and outside of Kappa Delta.
In our community, KD’s support OASIS Incorporated, Girls Incorporated, and local Girl Scout troops. Eighty percent of our annual Shamrock fundraising efforts go directly to OASIS, which is a shelter for battered women and their children. The remaining twenty percent goes directly to Prevent Child Abuse America (one of our national philanthropies). We, as Kappa Deltas, believe that domestic violence shatters a child’s confidence. We promote confidence in local Girl Scouts by hosting on campus events such as tours, anti-bullying workshops, and spa days!
