Dragana Derlic, PhD is an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Kentucky Wesleyan College. Dragana’s primary research interests include corrections, offender rehabilitation, and program evaluation. Her research agenda is informed by the lived experiences of individuals in the criminal justice system. Her current research pipeline is focused on assessing the effectiveness of transformative rehabilitation programs within correctional facilities. You can find her most recent co-authored paper in Crime & Delinquency which focused on parent-child contact practices among incarcerated parents. Dragana’s work on several projects has been recognized by Kentucky Wesleyan College through the Faculty Scholarship and Creative Activity Award in the Spring of 2022.

In addition to her research, Dragana values and embraces teaching and considers pedagogy an important part of her scholarly career. Over the course of the last five years, she has developed and taught several courses including Offender Rehabilitation, Women, Gender, and Crime, Criminology, Corrections, Global Perspectives, Introduction to Crime and Criminology, Introduction to Criminal Justice, and Juvenile Delinquency. Dragana’s effectiveness in the classroom has been recognized by The University of Texas at Dallas through the Distinguished Instruction by a Teaching Assistant award in the Spring of 2021.

Outside her research and teaching, Dragana devotes a significant amount of time to service and leadership within in the field. She is the Associate Editor of the Inter-News Newsletter of the Division of International Criminology (DIC) of the American Society of Criminology (ASC) and the Chair of the Social Media Committee. Dragana is also on the Newsletter Committee and the Nominations Committee for the Division of Corrections and Sentencing of the ASC. At the institutional level, Dragana is on the Academic Policies Committee, Criminal Justice and Criminology Hiring Committee, and Institutional Review Board Committee. Additionally, she is a member of the Regional Re-Entry Intercept Collaborative, a group which works within the community to solve issues of incarceration and reentry.
