Kentucky Wesleyan Hosts Ribbon Cutting for Renovated Residence Hall

Owensboro, Ky. (Aug. 12, 2015) – On Monday, Aug. 17, Kentucky Wesleyan College will celebrate the re-opening of one of its most storied residence halls.  Kendall Hall, fresh off a $3.75 million facelift, will officially open its doors following a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce at 12:15 p.m.  The event is open to the public, and all alumni and friends of the College are invited to attend.

Rusher Construction Company, Ross Tarrant Architects and Partners Development have been involved in the renovation project, which began in the fall of 2014. The residence hall, built in 1963, is named after Harry R. Kendall, a long-time benefactor of the College who died in 1959.  The completely remodeled four-story building, which will house both male and female students for the first time, includes the addition of an elevator and two kitchenettes, along with new furniture, plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.

“Kendall Hall is one of the crown jewels on the Kentucky Wesleyan campus and has been for over 50 years,” said President Barton D. Darrell.  “We are thrilled to be able to preserve the incredible history of the building, while giving our current and future students a state-of-the-art residence hall in which to maximize their campus experience.”

The building will be open for self-guided tours immediately following the ceremony, and event parking is available in the Scherm Road lot by the Winchester Center and the Kendall Hall lot off the Avenue of Champions.
