Kentucky Wesleyan College Interim President Dr. Gene Tice has announced the appointment of Rebecca McQueen-Ruark, M.A. as vice president of student affairs. She assumes the position after serving as the College’s dean of students since 2016.
“Rebecca has played an important role in the continued growth of the student engagement and campus life experience at Kentucky Wesleyan,” said Dr. Tice. “The importance of the student experience cannot be overstated and Rebecca’s leadership and vision for the programming, health and security of our campus is vital to the continued momentum of the College.”
In her role, McQueen-Ruark is responsible for overall vision and effectiveness of student services office, which includes residence life, student involvement, student health and counseling services. She arrived at Kentucky Wesleyan in 2014 as the director of the sophomore experience, a program which has been a key contributor in the retention success of the institution. Her previous experience includes residence life oversight at both Pfeiffer University and Elon University in North Carolina.
“I am excited to continue working with the Student Services team and the leadership of the College to cultivate a supportive and seamless learning environment on campus for our students,” said McQueen-Ruark. “The hallmark of a Wesleyan education is the nurturing and empowering atmosphere that allows students to live, learn, lead and love as they become global citizens ready to positively impact the world. Named one of Owensboro’s 40 Under 40 in 2017 and a graduate of Leadership Owensboro’s Class of 2016, McQueen-Ruark holds a master of arts degree from Appalachian State University and a bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
