Leadership Wesleyan, presented by German American Bank, is the College’s premier leadership program and stands as a testament to the college’s commitment to shaping well-rounded future leaders. This comprehensive program, inspired by successful initiatives like Leadership Owensboro and Leadership Kentucky, offers a robust year-long journey that equips students with vital skills for their post-college endeavors. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to encompass a wide range of practical “adulting” topics, from workplace communication skills to the importance of diversity, ensuring participants are well-prepared for the realities of life after college.
The program’s structure promotes active engagement through a blend of networking opportunities with prominent community figures, hands-on professional experiences, and educational sessions. Its unique approach to leadership development is further enhanced by its inclusivity, remaining accessible to students at no cost, courtesy of the bank’s generous support.
As Leadership Wesleyan enters its fourth year, it’s set to deepen its roots in the Owensboro community, again offering an enriched experience that begins with the essential Fall Conference. The journey through the program is marked by a selection of elective activities, culminating in a celebratory presentation and awards ceremony. With its limited enrollment and focus on upperclassmen, the program ensures a quality, personalized experience for each participant.
To graduate from Leadership Wesleyan, students must attend the Fall Conference and earn the requisite minimum points awarded for completing their choice of electives. Participation is limited to 20 students and priority will be given to students who have junior and senior status. All students must complete an application and list one faculty/staff member or coach as a reference.
