Meet Christine Salmon

Christine Salmon, PhD


Dr. Salmon brings a wealth of experience to this office.  In her 20 plus years in higher education, she has worked at institutions of all kinds, including, community college, research univerisities, and liberal arts colleges. For 10 years, she was Assistant Professor of French and Humanities at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana before moving into Distance/Online Learning at Indiana State University, where she also served as Associate Project Director for the Virtual Instructional Designer, a $1 million Learning Anytime Anywhere Grant from the US Department of Education.

She came to Kentucky Wesleyan from the University of Texas at Dallas where she was Director of the Center for STEM Education and Research, a 5-year, $2.5 dollar grant from the US Department of Education via the Texas Education Agency. The center worked to train middle and high-school STEM teachers in project-based learning.

Dr. Salmon has co-authored a book chapter about online learning and translated the Preface to a 15th century work by a female author. She has presented at and organized numerous conferences. At Wesleyan she has garnered more than $20,000 in grants to support faculty and student projects.

Dr. Salmon’s experience with faculty and students, including teaching KW 101, will support this new initiative in academic advising. She will build on existing relationships with faculty and create new partnerships with students.
