Panther Intern Spotlight – Heather Mapes ’26

Check out this Panther Intern spotlight about Heather Mapes ’26! Heather is a communication arts major who has spent her summer interning at WKWC 90.3 Panther Radio!

Q: What is your major? What do you hope to do with it?
A: I’m double majoring in theatre arts and communication arts. I’m honestly not sure what I want to do with them yet, so I’m just going with the flow!
Q: Tell us about your internship!
A: I’m interning at WKWC 90.3 Panther Radio right here on campus! I had some friends who’ve worked at the radio station before, so I used my network to get my foot in the door.
Q: What kind of responsibilities do you have/projects are you working on?
A: I’ve been hosting a radio show as a DJ! I’ve also worked on any community calendars and commercials that need to be recorded.
Q: What has been your favorite part of your internship so far?
A: Honestly, my favorite part has been growing my confidence! I’ve enjoyed that and I’ve also really enjoyed learning new things that I didn’t realize I’d be learning during this internship.
