Wesleyan Mourns Passing of Assistant Athletics Director Doug Kingsley

The Kentucky Wesleyan College community mourns the loss of Assistant Athletics Director Doug Kingsley, who passed away Friday after a lengthy illness.  Kingsley, 76, graduated from Wesleyan in 1961 and had served the Department of Athletics in various capacities since his days as a student-athlete, when he played baseball for the Panthers.  He had been the department’s business manager since 2011.

Doug_Kingsley_2014.7055“Doug Kingsley was many things to Kentucky Wesleyan athletics over the years – budget supervisor, travel coordinator, salesman, handyman, and more,” said Director of Athletics Rob Mallory.  “Those contributions will be difficult to replace. But most importantly, he was a friend to us all, and that is irreplaceable. We will miss him dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with Linda and the rest of the family during this difficult time.”

President Bart Darrell added, “Anyone who knew Doug would certainly agree that there couldn’t be a better person to have crossed your path.  Our college and our lives are better because of Doug Kingsley.”

A memorial service is scheduled for 12:00pm Tuesday, July 12, at Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church (1215 Scherm Road) in Owensboro. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00pm Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory (900 Old Hartford Road) and 10:00am-12:00pm Tuesday at the church.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Kentucky Wesleyan College Athletic Department, 3000 Frederica Street, Owensboro, KY 42301.
