Kentucky Wesleyan College hosted 35 students and their families for the annual Wesleyan Scholars Weekend (formally known as the Brown Scholarship Competition). These students were selected based on their academic credentials and rank among the top students in their applicant class.
The day opened with comments from Vice President of Executive Initiatives and Retention, Scott Kramer; Vice President of Admissions and Financial Aid, Jeremy Pittman; Associate Director of Admissions, Matt Ruark; and a special message from President Bart Darrell.
Following the opening presentation, students had the opportunity to participate in an open forum where they offered their ideas and assessments on current events while parents learned more about the Kentucky Wesleyan experience from a panel of current Brown Scholars, alumni and parents. Students and families then had time one-on-one with a faculty member in the field of their choice followed by a light lunch. The competition began after lunch and students completed an essay or interview as their submission.
For their academic accomplishments in high school, students were presented with the Trustee Scholarship, a value of more than $48,000 over four years at the end of the day. Additional scholarships will be granted once the competition results are released.
