Biography

Heather Trulen serves as an adjunct professor, teaching medical terminology. She is a nursing educator with over a decade of clinical experience in NICU, urgent care, school health, and prenatal education. She has a strong passion for working with nursing students, which led her to begin teaching part-time at the UofL Owensboro Extension in 2022. In 2023, she completed her Master’s in Nursing Education at McKendree University. As of fall 2024, she joined the UofL School of Nursing faculty, focusing on community health and mental health nursing. Her scholarship emphasizes active learning and community engagement. She has presented nationally on innovative teaching strategies, including the use of escape rooms and health fair models to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes
