Shauna Jones was born and raised in Owensboro, KY where she trained with Owensboro Dance Theatre. Upon high school graduation, she studied on scholarship with Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago where she trained extensively. She has her MFA in Dance Pedagogy and Choreography from Florida State University and a rare Graduate Certification in Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis from the University of Utah. Currently, Shauna is a full-time certified teacher in dance for Owensboro Public Schools, Adjunct in Dance and Choreographer for KWC’s Theatre Arts Program and Ballet Mistress at Musick Studios in downtown Owensboro. Previously, Shauna has taught in the Dance Program at Western Kentucky University(6 years) and Florida State University(3 years). She has guest taught at Alice Loydd College, University of Kentucky and Indiana University. One of her proudest accomplishments is founding and establishing the Rising Stars Adaptive Dance Program in the Owensboro community. It is a nonprofit program that brings the art of dance to people who have disabilities, serving hundreds of people in area schools and organizations. Along with a feature article in Dance Teacher Magazine, she has shown her work from NYC to LA. Shauna is happy to be sharing her love of dance with the Kentucky Wesleyan College community and to the Owensboro area!
