KWC hosted a build-a-bed project on campus on Monday, Aug. 25, 2025, from 8 a.m. – noon. During the event, students, staff, faculty and community members worked side by side to build 18 brand-new, hand-crafted beds for local children. The event was also a service project for first-year students as a part of orientation.
Sponsored by Campus Ministries each year, the 2025 event was the eighth year of participation. Since beginning the project, KWC has now build more than 250 beds thanks to the help of our campus community and our partners at Trinity United Methodist Church.
“Many children in our own community go to bed each night without a bed of their own,” said Anna (Lake) Crasher ’18, director of spiritual life. “Every child deserves a safe, comfortable place to sleep, and we invite our campus community and friends to come together to make a lasting difference in the lives of local kids.”
Each bed is built with care, complete with a mattress, bedding and pillows—everything a child needs to have a warm, restful night’s sleep. The build-a-bed project is not just about building furniture. It is about building hope, dignity and a sense of belonging for children who need it most.
With ongoing support, we can build more beds, reach more families and continue spreading kindness in our community.
“Together, we can ensure that no child sleeps on the floor,” said Crasher.
