Kentucky Wesleyan College welcomes one of largest freshman classes in 20 years

Kentucky Wesleyan College opened the 2026-27 academic year with significant enrollment growth. The overall enrollment of 817 students marks an 8% increase from Fall 2025, and the freshman class of 268 students is a 23% increase from one year ago.

This year’s total enrollment of 817 students includes 106 students enrolled in online and graduate programs, which is a 7% increase from Fall 2025.

The 2026 student population hails from 33 states and 25 countries with 33 international students. Residential housing is near capacity.

“This growth is a reflection of the strength and momentum of Kentucky Wesleyan College,” said Interim President Dr. Stephen Germic. “We are excited to welcome one of our largest incoming classes in two decades and to see continued growth across our programs. Most importantly, these numbers represent students choosing Kentucky Wesleyan as the place where they will learn, grow, and prepare for their futures. We are grateful to our faculty, staff, coaches, alumni and campus community for the role each has played in creating an environment where students can thrive.”

The academic year began on Aug. 25 and Fall 2027 recruitment is underway. Beginning in Fall 2027, Kentucky Wesleyan will transition to a four-credit-hour academic model, allowing students to focus on fewer courses while engaging more deeply with their coursework. The College will also pilot a block scheduling plan for a select group of students, offering a one-course-at-a-time learning experience designed to provide greater focus, engagement and opportunities for hands-on learning.
