Owensboro, Ky. (Aug. 14, 2025) – The Nonprofit Coalition of Owensboro will host a half-day workshop, “Financial Excellence for Nonprofit Organizations,” at Kentucky Wesleyan College on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. in Tapscott Chapel in the Barnard-Jones Administration Building.
Stephani Skryzowski, founder and CEO of 100 Degrees Consulting, will lead the workshop, which is designed to equip nonprofit leaders with essential financial management skills. Topics will include budgeting, cash flow, forecasting, long-term financial planning, software selection, organizing financial responsibilities, preparing for audits and IRS Form 990 compliance.
The workshop is tailored for executive directors, board chairs and executive committee members of nonprofit organizations. Organizers emphasize the importance of strong financial practices in building organizational credibility and securing funding.
“From a funder’s standpoint, the strength of a grant application lies not only in its vision but in the clarity and integrity of its financial foundation,” said Sara Hemmingway, executive director for the Marilyn and William Young Foundation. “Complete and accurate financial information isn’t just a formality; it’s a reflection of the organization’s capacity to steward resources responsibly and deliver on its promises.”
Registration is $35 through Sept. 24 and $40 for on-site registration. Interested participants may register online here or by calling the United Way of the Ohio Valley at 270-684-0668.
The Nonprofit Coalition is a collaborative initiative of Kentucky Wesleyan College and Wendell Foster that is committed to empowering nonprofit leaders and board members through education and networking.
