Panther Intern Spotlight – Guinevere Garr ’25

Check out this Panther Intern spotlight about Guinevere Garr ’25! Guinny is a senior accounting major interning with the Funeral Excellence Group in Owensboro!

Q: What is your major? What do you hope to do with it?
A: I’m majoring in accounting with a minor in economics. I’m not 100% sure what I wish to do with my major, but I’m currently loving the idea of corporate accounting!
Q: Tell us about your internship!
A: I’m currently interning at the Funeral Excellence Group in Owensboro as an Accounts Receivable Associate. I found this internship through Professor Agnes Church ’90, one of our business faculty at Kentucky Wesleyan College. This opportunity would not have been possible without the additional help from Selena Coalter ’20, an alumna of KWC and my mentor at FEG.
Q: What kind of responsibilities do you have/projects are you working on?
A: My everyday tasks usually consist of inputting invoices and recording deposits. I also work on bank reconciliations and other tasks that help me learn more and better understand all what goes into the accounting field outside of the day-to-day operations.
Q: What has been your favorite part of your internship so far?
A: I love learning how to operate in the business world and properly handle difficult situations. I have acquired numerous skills that I will be able to use not only at FEG, but also in other aspects of my life. I’ve learned so much from both Selena and Chris (our CPA) and wish to continue to ask them questions and keep growing in the field of accounting.
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: I plan on getting my master’s degree and starting a career in the accounting field!
