Natalie Francis received her Bachelor of Music Therapy degree from Illinois State University in 1980.  After a 6-month internship in Athens, GA, she began her 33-year career with the Owensboro Public Schools in January 1981.  She first served as a music therapist with OPS special needs students for 10 years, then taught elementary school music at Cravens Elementary for 23 years where she directed the Cravens Chorus, Cravens Steel Pan Band, and drama club.  Natalie also earned a Music Education certification from Brescia University and a Master of Arts in General Education and Rank I endorsement in elementary education from Western KY University.  In 2007 and 2012 she received the KY Second District Elementary Music Teacher of the Year award.  She has served as pianist for Bethlehem Methodist Church in Lewisport, KY for 30 years and played with the OSO Big Band.  After retirement in 2014, she substitute taught in many roles including music teacher and piano accompanist for DCPS and OPS.  Natalie has been married to Karl since 1983, and they have 2 adult children – Nathan and Whitney.
