GREGORY OLSON

DOUBLE BASS

Gregory Olson has been Principal Bassist with the Owensboro Symphony and Evansville Philharmonic Orchestras since 1981. He is also Principal Bassist of the Paducah Symphony, and plays in the bass section of Orchestra Kentucky in Bowling Green. Mr. Olson studied with Murray Grodner, Stuart Sankey, and Eugene Levinson while completing his undergraduate studies at Indiana University. Following graduation, he served as Principal Bassist of the Orquestra Sinfonica de Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte, Brazil from 1978-1980. Since moving to Owensboro, Mr. Olson has been active in chamber music as a member of the Commonwealth String Quintet and in performances with the University of Evansville Music Department faculty. He has also performed orchestrally on occasion with the Louisville Orchestra and Lexington Philharmonic.

In addition, Mr. Olson has been a string teacher in the Owensboro and Daviess County Public Schools since 1981. He is also an adjunct faculty member of the University of Evansville music department.
