Kentucky Wesleyan announces new Honors Program

Owensboro, Ky. (Oct. 23, 2017) – Kentucky Wesleyan College announces a new Honors Program for high-achieving students who seek a challenging and engaging liberal arts experience in their chosen field of study. Students must demonstrate several qualities for acceptance to the program, including superior academic abilities, passion, dedication and a love of learning. They will complete original projects and a senior thesis in their major.

“This exclusive program will prepare students for admission to graduate and professional schools and successful careers,” said Dr. Paula Dehn, vice president of academic affairs and dean of the college.

Incoming freshmen who are eligible will automatically be admitted to the Honors Program and sophomores who are recommended by faculty will also be admitted. Assistant Professor of Art and Design Heather Logsdon is director of the new program. “The Honors Program will enhance the educational experience of high-achieving students and guide them as they learn in a challenging, rewarding environment,” said Logsdon.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our hard-working faculty for developing the Honors Program, a significant addition to our College,” said Jeremy Pittman, vice president of admissions and financial aid. “Our future recruiting classes will benefit greatly from this distinctive program.”
