Kentucky Wesleyan Announces Two Events in Celebration of Black History Month

Kentucky Wesleyan College is pleased to announce two wonderful events in celebration of Black History Month.

On Feb. 23, 2017, the public is invited to attend Negro Spirituals Masterclass with Calesta Day at 4:30 p.m. in Tapscott Chapel in the Barnard-Jones Administration Building at Kentucky Wesleyan College. On Feb. 24 at 7:00 p.m., an Evening of Spirituals featuring Day will include special performances by Kentucky Wesleyan College students at First Presbyterian Church, 1328 Griffith Ave. Both events are free and open to the public.

Calesta A. Day, soprano, is a multi-talented and gifted woman of God, with a range of vocal abilities. Her anointed style, production and spiritual perception has established her as one of the most dynamic and compelling talents.

A Dayton-area performer for years, Calesta has appeared with such groups as Bobby Jones Gospel, James Cleveland and the Gospel Music Workshop of America, and with the late Ronald Winans.

With Ms. Day’s recent release of her first single titled “Hear My Prayer” on Amazon, Google Play and ITunes stores, she is currently completing her first album titled “Hear My Prayer.” Calesta is also a member and soloist with the American Spiritual Ensemble.
