Kentucky Wesleyan College Increases New Student Enrollment by 39 Percent

Kentucky Wesleyan College has announced its largest incoming class of new students in over a decade. The College has enrolled 333 new students (freshmen and transfers) in Fall 2018, marking a 39 percent increase from 2017 and bringing the total full-time on-campus enrollment at the College to 738.

“This incoming class is a testament to the hard work and effort of our Admissions team, our elite faculty and staff, our high caliber returning students and the value we provide as a faith-based, liberal arts institution that also focuses intently on career preparation,” said President Barton D. Darrell. “Our alumni should also take great pride in the continued upward enrollment trend here at Kentucky Wesleyan College as their successes and examples make the College attractive to more and more students and families. We also celebrate these results with the Owensboro and Daviess County community, which has long known the reputation of our College and supported our students. But this community is also significant when potential students come to visit and see what this great college town has to offer them. Quite simply, ‘The Wesleyan Way’ is a great formula to set up for a great life. That message is spreading.”

Wesleyans total headcount for the Fall 2018 term marks a 13.4 percent increase in full-time enrollment from 2017. The total number of freshmen (249) is the most since 2007, while the total number of transfers and re-admitted students (84) is the most since 2006.

Kentucky Wesleyan College was recently ranked No. 15 in the nation in the Baccalaureate Colleges category of the 2018 Washington Monthly College Rankings. College Consensus also recognized Wesleyan with the No. 2 ranking in the Best Colleges and Universities in Kentucky for 2018, while Princeton Review named the College “Best in the Southeast” for the 15th consecutive year.
