Kentucky Wesleyan recognized in #GivingTuesday case study

Owensboro, Ky. (Aug. 7, 2017) – Kentucky Wesleyan College has been recognized by #GivingTuesday in a case study that highlights the College’s creative successes in promoting its #GivingTuesday campaigns and use of social media and other means to spread the word. Wesleyan’s inaugural #GivingTuesday event on Dec. 1, 2015, raised $113,054 via 275 gifts to the College. It was preceded by an effort unique to Kentucky Wesleyan, The Wesleyan Way Day of Service on Nov. 30, in which 141 students, staff, faculty and alumni gave 172 hours of their time to serve others in local schools, service agencies and a church.

In 2016, the Wesleyan community nearly doubled their inaugural effort to serve others on The Wesleyan Way Day of Service, giving 320 hours of their time. #Giving Tuesday followed with a 30 percent increase in giving, with $147,472 in charitable gifts.

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. It is celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving in the United States and kicks off the charitable season of holiday and year-end giving.
