Kentucky Wesleyan to host Day at the Races and Downs After Dark

Weekend visits to Keeneland and Churchill Downs on the horizon

Owensboro, Ky. (March 29, 2016) – With the annual “Run for the Roses” right around the corner, Kentucky Wesleyan College is getting a jump on racing season by hosting an April event at Keeneland in Lexington, followed by an appearance at historic Churchill Downs in Louisville for “Downs After Dark” this summer.

On Saturday, April 16, alumni and friends of the College are invited to attend Day at the Races at Keeneland, beginning with a tailgate party on The Hill at 11 a.m. EDT, featuring live music, local food trucks, and more.  All-inclusive tickets are $30 each and include food and beverages at the tailgate, reserved grandstand seating for the day’s race card and a racing program.  Free parking will be available via Gate 1.

Wesleyan will also be in Louisville on Saturday, June 18, for Downs After Dark, the wildly-successful nighttime racing series Churchill Downs launched in the spring of 2009, which includes live music and racing under the lights, beginning at 6 p.m. EDT.  Tickets are $45 each and include reserved seating on Millionaire’s Row, Chef’s Table Buffet, non-alcoholic beverages and racing program.  A cash bar will be available.  Gates open at 5 p.m. EDT.
