Animation Minor

A minor in animation at Kentucky Wesleyan will immerse students in the realm of design, theory, and production of motion and visual storytelling. Throughout their studies, students will cultivate a profound understanding of animation principles, advanced software, and cutting-edge techniques. The curriculum focuses on nurturing artistic talents and technical expertise, empowering them to research, create, and produce interactive digital 2D/3D animations, graphics, and engaging cartoons.

Upon completion of the minor, you will have honed your skills to a professional level, demonstrating proficiency in all aspects of animation production. Whether you prefer short, snappy visual narratives or grand, immersive tales, you will have the knowledge and ability to bring your creative visions to life. By mastering the art of visual storytelling, you will develop the power to captivate audiences and take them on unforgettable journeys through the magic of animation.

What you’ll experience
  • Learn about timing, sequencing, story, character, camera movements, and gravity effects to create a full body of animated work.
  • Jump into hands-on projects within the first week of the semester. In our state-of-the-art Mac lab, you will become experienced in industry-standard software including Blendr, Maya, and Adobe Creative Suite. 
  • Preparation and hard skills necessary for careers such as art director, background designer, film/video editor, multimedia specialist, production designer for theatre/film/TV, special affects artist, game designer, illustrator, or graphic designer.
